Panic stations! Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett has raised the alarm about the country's "voracious consumption of illicit drugs"!
Just don't mention prohibition. That's a given, it seems.
Her "solutions" are to "educate people about the dangers of illicit drugs" as if this will stop people wanting to have a good time. It's a return to Nancy Reagan's failed "Just say no" campaign. 
And in the hallowed tradition of idiocy – doing the same thing over and again while expecting different results – Barrett's other "solution" is to create a task force which will go to Columbia to quell its $10 bn per year drug trade. Appropriately it is named "IJIT" – international joint investigations team. Barrett laments the murderous daily street shootings in south-west Sydney and blames it on the demand for drugs, apparently unaware of the direct parallels with alcohol prohibition in the 1930s which featured tommy-gun battles in the streets between rival bootleg gangs. 
Barrett also ignores the dangers of legal alcohol, opioids and tobacco, where a similar attempt at prohibition via steep tax hikes has resulted in another bootleg trade involving regular arson attacks on businesses. 
Only an 'eejit' would believe in this nonsense but hey, the police do very well out of fighting drugs prohibition which brings them large budgets, easy arrests and great paths to promotions.

Meanwhile I think Barrett (pictured} needs educating about human nature and making up laughable acronyms. I also wonder if Ms Barrett has weighed up the opportunity costs of drug enforcement in Columbia vs pressing domestic concerns such as, erm, terrorism. https://

A man has died and six others have been hospitalised after suffering medical episodes at yesterday's Dreamstate music festival in Sydney. Drug overdoses are suspected but no official diagnosis has emerged so-far. Some online chatter suggests the problem was high-dose MDMA pills containing another chemical. News reports do not mention that any drug-testing services were available at the event. By contrast, three testing stations are being provided at today's Laneways festival as recommended by the NSW Government's drugs summit last year. Premier Chris Minns has expressed opposition to drug testing because it "sends the wrong message". I guess people dying needlessly must be "the right message". As usual, no news reports mention the ultimate cause of this carnage: the failed ideology of prohibition.

Absolutely NOBODY is correctly analysing Trump's kidnap of Nicolas Maduro and his wife (killing 40 people in the process). It's ultimate proof that the PROHIBITION OF DRUGS does more harm than the drugs it fails to control, as another 'forever war' threatens to engulf the Americas. 

It all goes back to the American lies and deceptions that brought in drugs prohibition in the 1930s after the failure of alcohol prohibition. Alcohol was just too popular for it to work but it lingers on for drugs because only a minority of people tolerate and enjoy them, creating a handy way to persecute minorities. Trump has just adopted the whole clusterfuck because it suits his cruel purposes.
